SKIDAWAY ISLAND, Ga. (WTOC) - Tensions flared Wednesday night during a Chatham County community meeting over proposed infrastructure improvements on Skidaway Island, as residents questioned both the need for the work and how funds are being allocated.A packed room gathered in Bailey Hall at Skidaway Island Methodist Church as county leaders outlined plans to add sidewalks, improve drainage, and upgrade traffic signals to create turn lanes. Planned project areas include paths along Green Island Road and Diamond Causeway, a four-way traffic light outside the main gate, and upgrades at the Lake Street intersection.Several residents pushed back against the proposals, arguing the improvements are unnecessary and the money should be directed elsewhere.“There are areas in Chatham County that can use this money legitimately,” said Jim Higbee, who lives on Green Island Road. “Flooding, crime, why not be practical? Use it to its best interest. This is not even close.”Chatham County Commission Ch
